About/Dates

Scope

NetMob is the primary conference in the analysis of mobile phone datasets in social, urban, societal and industrial problems. Previous editions in Boston and Milano brought together more than 250 researchers, practitioners and decision-makers from more than 140 institutions and 30 countries.

Format

The 2019 edition of NetMob will take place at the Mathematical Institute of Oxford University in a conference format similar to that of the previous editions: one track of short contributed talks, a simplified submission procedure, no proceedings (except for a book of abstracts), and the possibility to present recent results or results submitted elsewhere.

Dates

Submission deadline: 15 March 2019
Extended Submission deadline: 25 March 2019
Notification of acceptance: 10 April 2019
Registration opening: 1 April 2019 Register
End of registration: 16 June 2019
Conference: 8-10 July, 2019

Call for Abstracts

The conference format is flexible: one track of short contributed talks, a simplified submission procedure (1-page abstracts only), and the possibility to present recent results or results submitted elsewhere. We welcome all contributions that deal with the analysis of mobile phone datasets. This includes but is not limited to the analysis of CDRs, mobile location data, wifi usage, app-generated data, Twitter, Facebook, etc.

Submissions format

  • Authors are invited to submit 1-page abstracts
  • Submissions should include the title, author(s), affiliation(s) and email address(es) on the first page.
  • Electronic submission of manuscripts in PDF format is required.

Future Cities Challenge

For this edition of Netmob together with Location technology platform Foursquare we introduce a unique data challenge by giving access to a mobility dataset describing venue interactions in the world's top cities and organising a special session to present results at the conference.

Venue/Accommodation

Venue

The conference will take place at the Mathematical Institute of Oxford University, Andrew Wiles Building, Radcliffe Observatory Quarter, Woodstock Road, Oxford OX2 6GG
Accommodation
Because July is high season in Oxford, accommodation is expensive and tricky to find. For this reason, we urge you to secure your accommodation as soon as possible.

We may be able to assist you in finding a college room at St Anne’s College or St Hugh’s College (2 minutes’ and 10 to 15 minutes’ walk from Maths Institute respectively). All rooms are single ensuite.
